Introduction to Counselling

Andover Crisis and Support Centre has been helping people in the local community since July 1975.

Amongst the services it provides is a professional Counselling Service. This confidential service is delivered in accordance with the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy's ethical guidelines.

We offer individual, couple and group therapy.

We accept referrals from health professionals, social services, schools, and from prospective clients themselves.

What is Counselling?

Counselling gives the opportunity for you to talk about your problems and difficulties in a safe and confidential environment. It gives support during times of transitions, crisis or loss. For example, we work with those who are depressed, stressed, anxious, or lacking in confidence, or with those who are bereaved, or lonely or confused. We also offer anger management

The work can help you to become more aware of what is important to you, to discover your strengths, communicate better and to overcome the obstacles that are blocking you. Exploring difficult emotions and experiences can help you find the choices open to you.

During the first session your counsellor will discuss the work with you and listen to what brought you to this meeting. Each session, weekly if possible, lasts for 50 minutes and you will make a financial contribution for each session as agreed between you and your counsellor.
